Twigmo 3.8: Platinum plan release

Hello,

For the last few months our team has been working hard on a long-awaited feature – the Platinum plan that brings an ability to create a native mobile application for your stores. Today it is available for Twigmo 3.8 users.

So let’s look closer at it.

The design of the application is similar to the Twigmo mobile front-end. However, it has a slightly different layout – the navigation menu and the footer moved to the side menu.

The application has the same color scheme and content as your mobile storefront (powered by Twigmo). In order to see the application look-and-feel, please use the new selector we added to the Twigmo Visual Editor.

All the Twigmo Mobile front-end features are available in the application. It also brings a new feature – push notifications.

There are two types of notifications. The first type is about order status changing. A customer will receive such a notification simultaneously with the e-mail notification. The administrator can turn on/off these notifications on the Twigmo add-on settings page.

The second type is the broadcast notification. The store administrator can send a message to all users of his/her mobile application. The message form is located in the Push notifications tab on the Twigmo add-on settings page.

Creating and uploading mobile applications to the Apple App Store and Google Play is quite a tricky and time-consuming thing. However, we did our best to make it as easy as possible for our clients.

We will publish applications under our developer account. It means that you don’t have to pay for such an account (the iOS Developer Program annual fee is USD 99). Also, you do not need to have such skills as compiling, signing and publishing the application.

To create an application, you will need to provide the following:

  • Application’s name, description, etc.
  • Graphical assets: a hi-res icon, a splash screen, and a banner for Google Play.
  • Screenshots of your application (our service will generate them automatically after you provide the URLs of your store pages).

We will do the rest: build the application and upload it to the Apple App Store and Google Play. These operations take some time, therefore it will cost USD 69 (a one-time fee for the application set-up).

If you would like to see our demo applications in action, please click on the icons below to install them.

As usual, the new version of the add-on includes minor bug fixes. Also, we added a new feature to Visual Editor – an ability to increase the size of the logo. You can find this setting in the new Logo section.

Twigmo 3 is released!

Hello,

Today, we are happy to introduce to you Twigmo 3 release and new Twigmo plans and pricing.

Twigmo 3 is based on AngularJS framework for better performance and faster development in the long run. Also, it includes a powerful visual editor that allows you to customize the mobile store look’n’feel easily and quickly so that it matches your desktop store design.

New plans and pricing

Together with Twigmo 3 release, new plans & pricing have come into effect. The main point is that all Twigmo plans are now no longer product quantity dependent and differ only in features. We believe it is more fair to pay only for the functions you use no matter how many SKUs you have in your product database.

The new Starter free plan is limited to one default theme and a mobile product catalog without checkout (customers are offered to buy a product via desktop checkout). Visual Editor is available on all commercial plans while additional design themes (up to 10 soon) are included in the plan Plus only. Later this year, we plan to offer an option to have your own store application for iOS and Android.

Upgrade

If you are a Twigmo 2.3 or above user, you will receive a notification about the available add-on upgrade in your CS-Cart admin panel. You can start the upgrade from the Twigmo add-on settings page. To upgrade the Twigmo add-on from version 2.2 or earlier, follow the manual upgrade guide.

As soon as all the required files are upgraded in your CS-Cart installation (automatically in Twigmo 2.3+ or manually in the earlier versions), it will be required to connect your CS-Cart store to the Twigmo service once again (under the Twigmo account tab).

After that a special 7-day Twigmo trial period will start during which you should select a new Twigmo plan for your store. This can be done via the new Twigmo Control Panel (click the button Control Panel on the Twigmo 3 add-on settings page in your CS-Cart to be automatically logged in) in which you can also manage all your Twigmo subscriptions, run Visual Editor, edit profile, etc.

If you are currently on a paid Twigmo plan, please connect your store to the Twigmo 3 service and contact us with your store domain name. The further instructions will be provided.

Important: Unfortunately, most custom CSS changes made in Twigmo 2.6 or earlier are incompatible with Twigmo 3 due to its new CSS structure. If you have CSS changes in your mobile site (powered by Twigmo 2.6 or earlier), it will be required to repeat these design changes using Visual Editor (it can be found on the Twigmo 3 add-on settings page in your CS-Cart). The editor also has a text area for entering CSS source code if you need to overwrite some inner CSS classes.

For information: In Twigmo 2.6 and earlier, custom CSS changes are saved in the file ‘custom_[skin_name].css’ in the Twigmo add-on directory. After the upgrade to Twigmo 3 this file can be found under the var/twigmo/3.0/backup_files/ directory of your CS-Cart installation, so that the file content can be used for viewing and repeating the color changes, etc. via Visual Editor.

Attention: Twigmo 2 service shutdown deadline

We announce that Twigmo 2 service will be shutting down on March 05, 2014, so we ask all Twigmo 2 users to upgrade their add-ons to version 3 and connect their stores to Twigmo 3 service before this date. The upgrade takes a minute and fully automatic if you have Twigmo 2.3+, while it may take additional time to transfer existing design changes manually.

Twigmo 2 users who do not upgrade to version 3 will have their mobile sites disabled after March 05, 2014. It means that their visitors will see the desktop site on their mobile devices instead of the mobile site. The Twigmo Admin application for iOS will stop working for Twigmo 2 users too.

Lastly, Twigmo 3 add-on is not available for CS-Cart 2.1.4, only for CS-Cart 2.2.x, 3.x and 4.x.

We have launched a dedicated support portal for Twigmo users that includes bug tracker, idea voting, community forums, etc.
